From June through the first week in August, the Greensburg Hempfield Area Library and The Youngwood Area Library present hundreds of programs for children birth through teens. Our theme-based programs incorporate Common Core and include STEM/Literacy opportunities. But what allows our Summer Quest to be meaningful and productive is that our emphasis is on FUN … ALWAYS FUN!
It’s important to support your child’s learning outside of school. And over the summer it is critical. Studies indicate that library summer programs have a very positive effect on children’s literacy skills.
Our summer programming for children can include:
- Story hours
- Reading to therapy dogs
- Book clubs
- Whole family events
- Performances from groups like Stage Right! and magicians
