Patrons with library cards in good standing can get free access to online content like eBooks and audiobooks as well as streaming movies, tv shows and series, music, online courses. Web-based platforms and downloadable apps can be used to facilitate reading, watching, and listening needs.

Libby is a free app created by OverDrive that allows library users to access and borrow ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines from their local libraries. It’s available on various devices like smartphones, tablets, and computers.

Hoopla is a free service offered to library card holders at GHAL and YAPL with more than 950,000 titles and growing! Hoopla allows you to instantly (no need to place holds or wait for titles to be returned) borrow and enjoy audiobooks, eBooks, comics, movies, TV, magazines, or music everywhere you have a screen—your computer, your phone, your car, even your TV. hoopla syncs across all your devices, so you can stream titles immediately or whenever you’re in the mood.

Most titles can also be downloaded to your phone or tablet. Hoopla offers more content, in more places, than any other digital library platform, and it’s all FREE thanks to your public library! Titles may vary based on individual library catalog.

Hoopla contains digital content in the form of audiobooks, eBooks, comics and manga, movies, music, television, and BingePasses.

It’s easy to browse by different search criteria (such as an author’s name or type of film), and you can search for your favorite best sellers, award winners, chart toppers, seasonal items, bonus borrows, and more.

eBooks and Audiobooks

Audiobooks and eBooks are available immediately—some in a variety of languages. Each title you borrow is checked out to you for 21 days. Go ahead… test your comprehension of the foreign language you are learning by trying a title in something other than English, or just enjoy the ease of picking up right where you left off in your native language… wherever you may be.

Comics and Manga

Comics also are checked out to you for 21 days and include graphic novels and manga from publishers like DC Comics, Scholastic, Marvel Entertainment, Image Comics, Andrews McMeel, Dark Horse, IDW, Boom Studios, TokyoPop, Kodansha USA, Titan, Abrams, Fantagraphics, Archie, Papercutz, Dynamite Entertainment, and many more!

Movies and TV

Movies and Television episodes are checked out to you for 2 or 3 days. Movies within BingePasses check out for 7 days and only count as one checkout even if you use more than one item within the BingePass!

TV series are available by season and count as only 1 check out even though you get to watch a whole season! And, you can watch the movie or tv show as many times as you want during the checkout time, and all those views only count as one checkout!

Magazines

Magazines are available as a BingePass and check out for 1 week. You get unlimited access to more than 100 popular magazines like Us Weekly, Good Housekeeping, Prevention, Cosmopolitan, Reader’s Digest, In Touch, TIME, and more. The pass only counts as one check out!

Music

Music can be checked out by album for 1 week and include soundtracks, compilations, and even loopable white, green, brown, and more background noise to help you relax and sleep better.

What are Hoopla BingePasses?

Hoopla BingePass lets you, well, binge! Entire collections of streaming content are at your fingertips with just one borrow. You’ll have immediate access to the content for 7 days

What are Hoopla Bonus Borrows?

Available the last seven days of each calendar month, Hoopla Bonus Borrows are titles available for you to enjoy without using any of your monthly Hoopla Instant borrows. Explore a broad range of content, new authors, and so much more without taking away any of your 5 monthly check outs!

When Bonus Borrows are not available, try Hoopla BingePass, which allows unlimited streaming of entire collections for seven days with just one borrow.

How to Get Hoopla

All you need is a Greensburg Hempfield Area Library-registered or Youngwood Area Public Library-registered library card, your pin, email address, and your device.

Step 1:

Simply download the free app from your app store or device service provider or online at hoopladigital.com

Step 2:

Set up an account using your email, library card number, and 4 digit pin, which is the last 4 numbers of the phone number you provided when you registered for a library card (unless you’ve changed it since then).

Step 3:

Start borrowing! No wait times! You get up to 5 checkouts per month including BingePasses and unlimited Bonus Borrows the last week of the month from a specially selected list of titles.

Having issues? Stop in the Library or call GHAL for assistance during regular business hours. For privacy reasons, we are unable to assist you on social media. Remember, you must be a library card holder at either Greensburg Hempfield Area Library or Youngwood Area Public Library. If not, encourage your library to invest in hoopla. If you cannot remember your pin, it can be reset upon request with valid ID.

Don’t have a library card? Don’t worry! Getting a library card is free and easy. Simply stop at either GHAL or YAPL during regular business hours to sign up. You’ll need a government issued ID and confirmation of your permanent mailing address.

Pronunciator is a free, web-based language learning resource that offers personalized courses, live conversation classes, and various learning tools for over 315 languages. It’s accessible through a library website or a mobile app.
