  1. Does it cost money to get a library card?
    No. It’s completely free to get a library card .
  2. How old do you have to be to volunteer at the Library.
    Volunteers must be at least 13 years old and attend a Teen Advisory Group session to learn more about it.
  3. How can I sign up for programs?
    Register for programs using the online event calendar at ghal.org
  4. My child has sensory needs. Can they still attend programs?
    Yes. The Library has trained professionals and tools to accommodate sensory needs.
  5. Do you have graphic novels?
    Yes. The Library has an impressive collection of graphic novels and manga.
  6. What are your hours?
    Monday through Thursday from 10am to 8pm, and Saturday from 10am to 5pm
  7. Is there free parking?
    Parking is free after 5pm weekdays as well as all weekend. There are 2 free parking spots located directly in front of the Library. Metered spaces and public lots are located within a 3-block radius.
  8. Can I return movies in the outside book return? Please do not return movies and other electronic devices like Wonderbooks and Launchpads in the outdoor book returns. 
  9. Do you have restrooms?
    Yes. The Library has ADA compliant restrooms located on the mail floor and in the children’s library. A changing station also is located in the children’s department restroom.
  10. How many items can I check out at one time?
    Aside from certain items like Wonderbooks and Launchpads, you can check out as many books and movies as you like. 
  11. Is there a ramp to get into the Library?
    Yes. There is a ramp for wheelchairs, strollers, delivery carts, etc., located along the 3rd Street side of the building with automatic doors and an elevator.
  12. Do you have programs for adults?
    Yes. Go to the event calendar to see all of the adult, teen, and children’s programs.
  13. Are parents permitted to stay in the room for children’s programs?
    It depends of the type of program. and age group Please ask for clarification by calling 724-837-5620.
  14. Is there a charge to attend programs?
    No. The Library does not charge a fee for their programs. From time to time, outside organizations may hold programs that charge a small fee. GHAL welcomes donations at any time to help defray the cost of programming and supplies.
  15. Do you accept book donations and/or books in memory/honor of someone? Yes and no. Gently-used books “may” be accepted for the used book sale. Book donations to be added to the collection must go through a eligibility process and may not be added. Books in honor or memory of someone are available. Please speak with the Library Director for clarification. See Used Book Donations for complete guidelines. 
  16. Do you have room rentals or meeting spaces?
    Yes. The Library has multiple options for your organization to rent space. Please contact the Library Director for more information and pricing at 724-837-5620.
  17. Are food and drinks permitted in the Library? No. While drinks with a lid are permitted, the Library asks that no food or drink be consumed in the building unless in a designated area or for a special program.
  18. Are service animals permitted in the Library?
    Working service animals are permitted; however, emotional support animals and pets are not.
  19. Can I send a fax at the Library? Faxing is not offered at the Library; however, the Help desk can refer you to a location near you.
  20. What tax forms do you have? Please call the Help desk for assistance. The Library receives certain forms, but we can help you find local resources.
