Youngwood Area Public Library’s Event Calendar

As with the Greensburg Hempfield Area Library, there is so much more than reading material at the Youngwood Area Public Library branch location. The library has Internet computers equipped with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Publisher. Internet computers are free of charge to use for patrons with a library card or guests with ID. Free Wi-Fi is available at the library. In fact, most services at the library are free except printing, copying, overdue fines and cost of lost materials.

E-books and downloadable audiobooks are provided free of charge to patrons with a valid library card (obtaining a library card is free at the library). E-books can be used on Smartphones, tablets, Kindles, Nooks, iPads and iPods. The e-books can be accessed at Westmoreland.Overdrive.com – we also provide workshops on downloading e-books to your device.

The Youngwood Area Public Library has a children’s area with over 6200 children’s books for all ages, including board books, picture books, first readers, chapter books, regular fiction and nonfiction books. Fun and engaging children’s programs are available at Youngwood Library, and signing up for these can be done via the Event Calendar.

When the Youngwood Area Public Library opened in a beautiful new location in the Youngwood Borough Administration building in October 2013, the change from the library’s first building in a house on Fourth Street in 1954 became obvious. In addition to a wonderful new building, the library’s dedicated employees and volunteers provide books and so much more to the residents of Youngwood. The library opens up a world of knowledge through books, technology, and programming.
